Seminar Summary

 
The Utah Division of Securities “Elder Financial Exploitation Prevention Program” educates financial and medical professionals, caregivers and others about how to spot older Americans who may be vulnerable to financial abuse. This seminar will discuss how to recognize financial exploitation, how to report suspicions to state securities regulators and/or APS professionals and how to assist the victim.
 
The “Red Flags” of Elder Financial Exploitation will be explained, along with the referral sources available in the State of Utah. The free resources to help elderly clients, along with Investor Education materials from the Division of Securities, will be available at the seminar.
 
 
Speaker – Karen S. McMullin, Division of Securities, Investor Education Coordinator
 
Bio - Karen McMullin is the Investor Education Coordinator for the State of Utah, Division of Securities. During her 11 years with the Division, she has worked with the Enforcement, Licensing and Compliance, and Corporate Finance sections. She has a Bachelor's degree in Education from Weber State and is an expert in the "BrokerCheck" process.   She has been instrumental in the dramatic increase in Investor Education events offered by the Division to the public in the recent years.
